Aerial Perspective

[Verse 1] Rooftops layered like a staircase to the clouds Rising high above the movement of the midday crowds Chimney tops breathing out a feather of smoke Listening to cadence in the words that were spoke Look down on the avenues weaving in and out Clear view of the compass when you turn right about Brickwork solid through a century of storms Standing in the silhouette of ordinary forms [Chorus] Higher perspective above the daily race Watching the horizon expand across the space Clear cut angles against the misty grey Catching every second of the fleeting day [Verse 2] Pigeon takes flight from a weathered copper sill Gliding on the updraft coming off the hill Aerial perspective makes the heavy load light Everything is balanced when you look from the height Catalog the patterns in the traffic down below Appreciate the patience in the steady ebb and flow Climb back down to the level of the street Grounded once again with the rhythm of the beat
