Mile Marker 14

[Verse 1] Counting out the mile markers on the shoulder line Streetlights flickering amber one at a time We left the keys on the counter by the hall Shadows stretching out against the kitchen wall [Chorus] And all the things we meant to mend Just circled back to the start again A sudden pause in the driving rain Learning how to speak your name [Verse 2] The porch light buzzes in the humid air Empty folding chairs that we left right there Trace the outline of a quiet town Watching all the evening traffic settling down
