Silver Ribbon Lane

(Verse 1) Old gravel lane winding through the pine Headlights are fading right on the borderline A gentle breeze rattles through the wire fence Leaving behind what never made much sense (Chorus) And the night rolls steady and deep With promises the open highway can keep Silver ribbon leading back toward the bend Where the quiet road starts over again (Verse 2) Porch light is resting on a weathered timber beam Holding on softly to an old unbroken dream Crickets are singing in the ditch beside the lane Washing the dust off after midnight rain
